Our team has been as assigned to do research about Malaysian Traditional Malay dance. For my task I have to find out about the traditional dance in South region. I choose Johor Darul Takzim as represent the variety of dance and the famous traditional dance in Johor is "Tarian Zapin".

Zapin is a Malay Traditional Dance that is very popular in Johor. The word zapin means the movement of legs from the word "Al-Zafri". Zapin is a Malay Traditional Dance that originally adapted from traditional culture of Arab. it is most influenced by Zapin Arab, but it has some characteristics that make zapin melayu dance differ with Arab. Based on the old history, zapin dance was started as entertainment dance in a castle that brought by Hadramut, Yaman Selatan in a century of 13. Basically, Malaysian dancers take zapin as basic steps Nowdays, zapin dace was performed in a formal or informal events such as wedding ceremony, grand opening event and so on.

The dance was originally performed by males only however it is also performed by female dancers these days. The simple version of the zapin is perform to the rhythm & 1234 and the foot is extended out to the side on the last count. It can be done in the spot, traveling forward backwards or diagonally in the basic form. The carriage if the dancers is quite erect and dignified.

The music of Zapin comes from an ensemble of traditional instruments which include the lute (gambus), bongos (marwas) and the violin. There are no hard and fast rules as to the number of dancers that perform. However because of the very interactive nature of this dance, it is usually performed in pairs.

The dancers can then play with each other, teasing, challenging and enjoying each others company. It is most popular in Johor. There are numerous forms of Zapin dances and it varies from state to state. Basically, there are various types of zapin dance in Malaysia. It was different in name and type because the creator of it is originally from different district in Johor. One of the most popular forms and certainly more evolved and intricate is the Zapin Tenglu from the Mersing, Onother popular zapin dance is Zapin Pekajang, Zapin Pekan, and Zapin Lenga,

Assignment 1 : e-Wallpaper (Individual work)

My e- Wallpaper looks like :

The making of Assignment 1 : e-Wallpaper

First assignment I have to create a digital image as a wallpaper. The event or theme is MMU FOM Open day dated August 1st, 2012.

Process 1 :
Create a creative wallpaper, it is basically based on your creativeness and some magic touch from the adobe photoshop. Firstly, open the adobe photoshop and click File > New and I set as A4 paper size. Then I select the road and blue sky image and set as a background for 1st layer. After edit two image in one background I use the rectangular marquee tool to select between part sky blue and road image and select filter > blur > motion blur and choose distance as 387 pixels.

Process 2 :
Second step, I put the logo Multimedia University logo subsidiary by TM as a header of the wallpaper and touch up with select filter > blur > surface blur with radius 100 pixels and threshold 255 levels.

Process 3 :
Third steps, I choose name of faculty of management and I use polygonal lasso tool to select the image that I want to use and crop the picture and then I select again the filter > blur > surface blur with radius 100.0 and threshold 100.0 also.

Process 4 :
Fourth steps, I choose the role film image and edit by use the quick selection tool, then drag to wallpaper and rotate the picture as 90' CW.

Process 5 :
Next steps, I choose the facilities in FOM building and use the rectangular marquee tool and put each of facilities in box of role film.

Process 6 :
Then, I crop the mascot of MMU called "Ebee" by using Magic Wand tool with 10 of Tolerance and I drag to the image and click the inverse button. Then, I paste it at the wallpaper. Other than that, I copy and paste the TM University logo.

Process 7 :
The most important thing is all the information about the open day must have in the e-wallpaper. I wrote "open day, date, contact us and courses offered" in Faculty of Management with difference layers. For text "open day" I open layer style, choose a gradient overlay and change the normal blend mode with 100% opacity then  I also use warped text and choose the flag style. For text " we want you" I open layer style, choose a color overlay and change the normal blend mode with 71% opacity. All text I edit with Ar Christ font text as shown below.

Final Process :
Lastly, I select image > adjustment > and change the brightness to +29, contrast to +27. For the last edit I choose to edit image of road with select image > adjustment > curve, then preset as a custom, output 129 and input 157. Light between 0-255 and shows the channel overlays, histogram, baseline and intersection line.
